Primary Objective of the Position:


Under the general direction of the Manager, Facility Maintenance & Aircraft Servicing and or Duty Managers the successful applicant will assist with the grooming and maintenance of Cargojet's aircraft and hangar facilities.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Cargojet's aircraft servicing and hangar facilities as directed
  • To ensure Flight Deck cleanliness including cleaning flight deck windows and instrument panels.
  • To prepare Flight Deck i.e. stocking of garbage bags, antibacterial wipes etc. General flight deck cleaning.
  • To organize Lavatory servicing including cleaning the lavatories with antibacterial spray, replacing the air freshener and stocking all amenities on aircraft, and facilities as requested.
  • To maintain internal cleanliness of the upper and lower cargo holds.
  • To wash and wax external aircraft, landing gear etc. (weather permitting)
  • Use and maintain all equipment to ensure that it is clean and operable.
  • Empty all hangar garbage's and sweep floor area.
  • To safely operate the following equipment: floor washer machine (clean hangar floor), snowplough with attachment (to remove snow from ramp area) and lift machine (to provide access to higher points on the aircraft).
  • Under direction of the manager facility maintenance & aircraft servicing ensure that all hvac units, water heaters, fire safety systems are serviceable and follow scheduled maintenance. Follow up with contractors to ensure these systems are serviceable.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assets within the facility including light and ballast replacements and emergency repairs for water leaks and flooding.
  • Ensure paroling lots and hallways are neat and clean of any debris.
  • Ensure aircraft and hangar sanitation and safety standards are followed.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for work performed.
  • Work under the direction of the duty managers and complete work assigned.
  • Ensure the hangar facilities and lunch rooms are neat and clean at all times.

Key Objectives:

  • Assignments are made to employees by means of oral or written instructions.
  • Is responsible for shop equipment, airside equipment and vehicles and maintenance support equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned on grooming Cargojet's aircraft and cleanliness and maintenance of hangar facilities and equipment in an efficient and effective manner with a high degree of quality.

Key Competency Requirements:

  • Required to lift weight 50 lbs. (fifty pounds) for component replacements.
  • Ability to operate high lifts, forklifts etc.
  • Ability to work from heights and on ladders.

Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of facility maintenance and aircraft servicing procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and fire prevention.
  • Ability to select and record data necessary to substantiate airworthiness.
  • Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Ability to pass written exams required for a Transport Canada for AME License.

Location & Work Environment:

  • Required to work in a hangar or outdoors.
  • Required to work in Restricted areas at Airports.
  • Shift work, rotating shifts (seven) 7 days a week.

Physical Standards:

  • Physically capable of performing the duties assigned with no accommodations or restrictions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Provincial Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP).
  • Ability to use computers
  • MS Word & Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and problemsolving abilities.
  • Detailoriented, able to multitask and work well under pressure.
