Key Responsibilities:

Production: Picking up production tickets, sorting the production tickets in order and taking direction from production manager to ensure following all the required steps and timelines to complete tasks

Frames: Pulling frames from stock and matching with production tickets (for certain designs will be required to put raw frames together and ensure proper fit), responsible for receiving all frames and storing in designated locations in warehouse. Making sure that each upholsterer has a minimum of 2 frames waiting to be upholstered so that if something goes wrong with one frame, they have another frame to start on.

Springs/Webbing: Installing webbing and springs in furniture frames to prepare them for upholstering.

Ensuring no sag springs on all furniture pieces, install webbing on arms and backs of frames and hand tying on webbed bases as required.

Assisting in installing sofa bed mechanisms, screwing in nuts and bolts as needed to ensure proper fit and alignment.

Inventory: Updating inventory sheets, noting when supplies need to be ordered (i.e. when the last box of springs, clips, etc. are opened or used up) to ensure that you have the right pieces to complete work at all times

Legs: Reviewing structure/functionality of furniture legs, bubble wrap all legs or show wood pieces to prevent damage

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in upholstered furniture manufacturing required, or familiarity in a similar setting/environment may also be considered
  • Minimum of oneyear prior experience in manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications sheets, photos and other instructions
  • Selfmotivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Team player and must work well with all other roles; cushion maker, upholsters, sewers and cutters
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds of material in a safe manner
  • Must have good problemsolving abilities, is proactive and looks to find solutions and know when to inform the right people when an issue arises
  • Must be able to read each production tickets properly to ensure that each frame is prepped correctly and follow instructions
  • Have an appreciation and understanding of what is required for high quality workmanship
  • Possess strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with all different types of fabrics including leather, heavy materials etc. and have good manual dexterity
  • Be able to hear feedback, incorporate new suggestions and be able to work with designs that may change/need to be altered
  • Strong adherence to health and safety, must keep the work area clean and tidy area at all times and recognize that health and safety is priority
  • Have some flexibility to work longer hours to ensure that all upholsterers have a sufficient number of frames waiting for them

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, you can select either 7 AM to 3:30 PM shift or 7:30 AM to 4 PM shift
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work during peak seasons; April to July and September to December
  • Plant shutdown last 2 weeks of July leading into August long weekend (Paid Holidays)

Job Types:

Salary:
$22.00-$25.00 per hour
