We're also planning a jam-packed summer schedule of cross-functional events, workshops, social and networking opportunities to complement the work and learning that our interns carry out in their roles.

They are ideas people, always thinking of innovative, new ways to do things. Beyond this, there are specific knowledge and skill requirements for each role, as detailed below.

About the Internship Opportunity with Ecosystem & Capital, Health Sciences

The Ecosystem & Capital team engages local and international communities to uncover commercial and financial opportunities with the aim of helping our most promising ventures achieve their greatest potential.

Utilizing sector knowledge we build investor forums, information, and capital relationships that bring value to ventures.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Ecosystem Health Sciences, the Intern will play a key role in supporting collaboration with Health Innovation hubs across Canada by:

  • Conducting primary and secondary research to understand the digital health ecosystem and regional strengths in key Canadian cities (e.g. Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax).
  • Sharing these insights both internally and externally in the form of a presentation and/or report.
  • Contributing to the development of a shared health sciences venture database supported by other Canadian innovation hubs, including deriving insights on the local and national health innovation ecosystem.


As a key contributor to project execution, the Intern will gain a deep understanding of the health innovation landscape in Canada.

They will engage directly with top ventures and stakeholders in health sciences to inform their activities and recommendations.

The MaRS Centre at 101 College Street, Toronto is a vibrant, architecturally inspiring complex connected to the subway. In early 2014, MaRS increased its innovation footprint to 1.5 million square feet with the opening of its 20-storey West Tower, making it one of the world's largest innovation hubs
You'll be provided with the required equipment and necessary communication tools to be able to collaborate effectively with your team and all MaRSians, which is core to our ability to deliver on our mission and values

The Fine Print
Applicants can either be a 2023 graduate of a post-secondary program or returning to post-secondary studies in Fall 2023.

The internship runs May - August 25, 2023.

Hourly salary rate:
$22 - $27
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and reside in Ontario.
