The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, International Sales, the Global Optimization Specialist is responsible for researching, analyzing, and recommending changes to Maple Leaf Foods' business process with the goal of improving operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability.

In this role, you will work closely with the individual product managers, global logistics, MLF customer service team and MLF foreign offices to support the overall business and reinforce the company's ambitious vision.


Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Compile and maintain price lists obtained from product Managers and forward to production operations.
  • Support the product manager in entering, transferring, and managing the Mexico and weekly chilled pork orders.
  • Support all international markets (Philippines, Taiwan, China), with primary focus on Mexico and chilled pork orders.
  • Responsible for analysis of weekly orders and liaising with the plants and foreign office regarding production and shipment capabilities.
  • Responsible for performing the analysis for weekly chilled costing and preparation of a detailed shipment summary for the logistics team to prepare invoices.
  • Weekly preparation of an analysis of chilled profitability by SKU by customer.
  • With respect to chilled pork weekly orders, answers team member questions and helps resolve team member problems.
  • Send purchase orders to suppliers, sales orders to customers and/or oversea offices, ensuring proper signatures/authorizations are obtained.
  • Provide regular follow up to customers, MLF foreign offices, MLF customer service, and logistics on the status of outstanding orders.
  • Key liaison with foreign offices with respect to pending order status.
  • Support customer complaint and product claims process in conjunction with the product managers and plant production teams.
  • Prepare credit and debit notes related to pricing changes or complaint processing.
  • Organize, authorize, and submit product invoices for ontime payment, which includes verifying the amounts and securing product manager final signoff.
  • Guide the Logistics Department and/or plants to keep abreast of any shipment issues and ensuring that the product managers are aware of these issues.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly analysis on pricing, volume, and shipment tracking.
  • Provide vacation backup to other team members when require.

What You'll Bring:

  • Post secondary degree/diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 13 years combined experience in administrative, customer service and/or data entry positions.
  • Excellent ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and to work in an extremely fast paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Listening, Written and Verbal).
  • Extremely well organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently prioritize own work.
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel and an aptitude to learn new software when required.
  • Fluency in additional language(s) is an asset.
