Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly qualified Thermal Hydraulic and Safety Analyst to join our team at NSI.

As a Thermal Hydraulic and Safety Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients in the nuclear industry by conducting comprehensive safety analyses and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in thermal hydraulics and have the necessary qualifications to perform nuclear safety analysis effectively.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct indepth safety analyses of nuclear systems, components, and processes to identify potential hazards, risks, and vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize advanced methodologies, computer models, and simulations to assess the impact of various scenarios, including accidents, failures, and abnormal conditions.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of safety systems, design features, and operational procedures to prevent and mitigate potential accidents and incidents.
  • Analyze safetyrelated data, including operational parameters, maintenance records, and incident reports, to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement safety programs, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to provide technical expertise and support for safetyrelated projects, including design reviews, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Participate in safety assessments and audits, both internally and externally, to identify potential gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements and research in nuclear safety, thermal hydraulics, and related fields to enhance analysis methodologies and techniques.
  • Prepare thermal hydraulic, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tasks, including modeling, analysis, and simulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to personnel involved in safetycritical activities to promote a strong safety culture and awareness.
  • Prepare detailed reports, technical documents, and presentations summarizing safety analysis findings, recommendations, and risk assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conducting safety analyses in the nuclear industry or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and industry standards, including codes such as NRC regulations, IAEA guidelines, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Strong background in thermal hydraulics with practical experience in analyzing heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and multiphase flow phenomena.
  • Proficiency in utilizing industrystandard software and tools for safety analysis, such as RELAP, TRACE, CATHARE, or similar codes.
  • Familiarity with probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) techniques, fault tree analysis, and event tree analysis.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STARCCM+, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and ability to apply them in evaluating safety risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
