Position Summary

As Foreman, you will assume a "tools-off" leadership role on site, bridging the gap between management and site employees. You have a strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and practices and a solid understanding of how projects are built. This opportunity is an excellent fit for someone with developed leadership and interpersonal skills who is working toward becoming an Assistant Superintendent.

As a Construction Foreman your key accountabilities will involve:

  • Coordinate and delegate tasks and responsibilities to the work crews.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor workers.
  • Ensure that plans and schedules are being followed.
  • Be a leader on site for the implementation of Ventana health, safety, environmental and quality programs.
  • Monitor work performance and attendance of internal forces.
  • Ensure that quality standards are being met and assist in managing the project Quality Control program by completing inspections and creating and tracking deficiencies.
  • Recognize, address, and resolve issues among crew members.
  • Facilitate and promote a safe and inclusive team environment.

As a Construction Foreman your success is dependent on:

  • The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • The ability to build solid long-lasting relationships
  • The ability to anticipate problems and solve proactively
  • Close attention to detail, are observant
  • You have a high degree of professionalism and maturity
  • You have strong time management skills, particularly the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks
  • Able to problem solve with a strong technical mindset
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond to problems in a friendly and solution-oriented manner.
  • You have people management skills and have been in a leadership environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, PlanGrid or SharePoint is considered an asset.

As a Construction Foreman your experience and qualifications will include:

  • Must hold a minimum Class 5 BC Drivers Licence.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • 2+ years of experience working for a General Contractor.
  • In-depth overall construction knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Proven ability to deal with internal forces, trades, architects and engineers.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.
  • Red Seal Carpentry ticket is considered an asset.
  • Construction-related post-secondary courses are considered an asset.
  • Relevant Machine and Safety tickets are considered an asset.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
