Fire Extinguisher Technician

Overview:


Through the conduct of Davco's industrial construction business a significant quantity of fire extinguishers are required to be maintained and serviced.

To accommodate this, and to provide fire extinguisher servicing to the local community Davco maintains certification to inspect, test, repair, and fill fire extinguishers.

We are seeking an individual to perform inspections, tests, repairs, and re-fills of fire extinguishers. When there are no fire extinguishers to service the individual will assist the maintenance team. Duties include washing and detailing vehicles, and assisting in delivery or retrieval of vehicles at third party facilities.

Job Duties:

  • Fire extinguisher:
  • Conduct maintenance and repair of fire extinguishers for Davco and third parties to NFPA 10 standards. Recharge powder extinguishers as needed; remove from service when necessary.
  • Administrative duties for fire extinguisher department, including monthly and weekly reports and invoicing of clients
  • Provide customer service, including booking appointments, responding to inquiries, and explaining procedures or service needs
  • Inventory and invoice management for fire extinguisher department
  • Travel to customer locations for pick up/drop off; pick up supplies as needed
  • Maintenance
  • Washing of vehicles
  • Interior cleaning and detailing of vehicles
  • Delivery or retrieval of vehicles at third party facilities

Terms of Employment:

  • Wage: negotiable, based on education and relevant experience
  • Hours of Work: Full time. Option of casual/part time work if desired to perform only the fire extinguisher portion of the job.
  • Work is located in the Wainwright, Alberta area

Skills requirements:

  • Familiarity with NFPA 10 standards and regulations an asset
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Current Safety Tickets required: H2S Alive, Construction Safety Training System Certification and Emergency First Aid
  • Ability to lift up to 23kg
  • Proficient in written, spoken and reading English
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to work with small hand tools
  • Ability to work outside exposed to the elements
