Description


Barber Collins security is looking for a casual Security Guard to work at a shipping and receiving facility during the week and weekends in London, ON.

This position has the possibility of transitioning to a part-time position.

Shifts:

Must be able to commit to the assigned schedule consisting of:

  • Rotate through 8 to 12 hour shifts of days, evenings and nights. Must be available weekdays/weeknights, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Casual position
hours per week (this is not guaranteed)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occasional foot patrols.
  • Protect company's property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
  • Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
  • Access control for the facility/area.
  • Log in and allow access to trucks and trailers
  • Demonstrating judgement, common sense, and decisionmaking ability, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other incidents.
  • Input employee information into card access system. Make access cards.
  • Keep site supervisor, Operations Manager aware of operational issues

Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position.
  • Trained Security Guard with a diploma in a related field.
  • Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.
  • Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to operate security equipment/systems, computers, radios, phones.
  • Meticulous record keeping, report writing, observation skills.

Job Types:

Pay:
$18.75 per hour

  • 8 hour shift

  • Evening shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed
