  • Pool Operator Level 1 or
  • Transportation of Dangerous Good (TDG)
  • WHMIS
  • Building Maintenance Level 1 or
  • First year or higher apprenticeship in any of the following HVAC, Refrigeration, Carpentry, Electrician, Plumbing or Small Engine Repair
  • Project Management Certificate
  • Confined Space Awareness Certificate
  • H2S Awareness Certificate
  • First Aid / CPR
  • 4th Class Power Engineer
  • 5th Class Power Engineer
Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in one or more of the technical functions which may include: swimming pool maintenance, plumbing, commercial building repair/maintenance, equipment repair/maintenance, electrical and/or HVAC systems maintenance and operation.
  • Experience with work site inspections, checking compliance with specifications, schedule and safety requirements.
  • Experience with estimating costs for construction or maintenance projects.
  • Experience with managing contracts in the maintenance or construction of assets.
  • Experience with the use of tablets for recording information.
  • Experience with BMS (Building Monitoring Systems).

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of building construction principles.
  • Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards associated with construction and maintenance of assets. These may include National Building/Fire/Plumbing Codes, Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes, and Provincial codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of general work procedures, preventive maintenance measures, workplace health and safety procedures.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to schedule, organize and provide routine asset maintenance services including minor capital/recapitalization projects.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to analyze problems in a variety of operational situations and develop and implement solutions through contracts or work plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to write scopes of work for contracts; and to communicate requirements to a variety of technical and operational contractors in a clear and unambiguous manner.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment related to the operation and maintenance of a busy swimming pool facility.
  • Ability to coordinate and check/report on the quality/completeness of work performed by external contractors, skilled trades and maintenance staff.
