We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantitative Analyst - Agricultural Emissions to join our team.

In this role you will be responsible for the technical aspects of the development, implementation, and monitoring of GHG reduction projects, with a specific focus on sustainable rice projects, implementing alternate wetting and drying (AWD) irrigation techniques with smallholder farmers in Southeast Asia.

We have developed some of the world's largest carbon projects including the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project, which is North America's largest Improved Forest Management project and the world's largest forest carbon project by area, as well as the Mai Ndombe REDD+ Avoided Deforestation project, the largest of its kind in Africa.


Specific job responsibilities include:

Documentation, Project Design, and Analysis

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to design, plan and implement Land Use carbon projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessment, and technical evaluation of potential projects/sites.
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the quality control of project documents, including the control of the values of (the potential to reduce) greenhouse gas emissions, project costs, etc.
  • Design monitoring data collection procedures to assess project performance. Follow up with project staff including field staff across multiple countries to ensure the effective implementation the monitoring procedures.
  • Develop and ensure effective implementation of protocols for infield GHG measurement research and soil sampling to support modeling of GHG emissions (with a particular focus on rice agroecosystems).
  • Developing financial models for project implementation scenarios.

Compliance

  • Staying up to date on standards, methodologies, and requirements relevant to the project's carbon crediting program.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to validation and verification requirements.
  • Support the development of project policies/plans to ensure compliance.
  • Lead communication with the carbon credit accreditation body and lead in the registration process of projects.

Team Collaboration

  • Conduct periodic international site visits for the purpose of feasibility assessment or to ensure a project's compliance with technical requirements.
  • Work closely with project staff to coordinate activities effectively.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary discussions to enhance project activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters (preferred) in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Agronomy, Sustainability, or related).
  • Able to solve complex projectrelated problems relatively independently.
  • Able to make decisions on the ground with the local project team to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Strong understanding of rice cultivation practices and their environmental impact is an asset.
  • Experience working in international development, rural development, or carbon offset project development is an asset.
