Canadian Bank Note Company is looking for a Systems Estimator to prepare cost estimates for the highly customized, secure technology solutions that we provide to governments across the world.

You will be tasked with collecting the cost estimates for solution components from various internal departments (Business Development, Systems & Architecture, Marketing, Software Development and Manufacturing among others), vetting them, and compiling them to produce a final overall cost estimate for the solution.

The learning curve will be steep, but the knowledge and exposure you gain will prime you for growth within the company.


You will be dealing with multiple solutions at any given time, so to be successful in the role you will need to be organized and able to manage deadlines and shifting priorities.

Strong analytical skills are essential when it comes to comparing current solutions to previous ones and actual to estimated costs.

The role also requires well-developed interpersonal and communication skills as you will be interacting with stakeholders across all levels of the organization on a regular basis.

What will you do?

  • Review and understand customer requirements and scope of the solution. Liaise with internal stakeholders and gather costing information pertaining to hardware, software, configuration, network, deployment, documentation, training, maintenance and support requirements and transform that information into a preliminary cost estimate.
  • Thoroughly vet and assess proposed solutions from a financial and technological perspective. Compare the proposed solution against similar previously deployed solutions, identify any anomalies, and utilize your critical and creative thinking abilities to identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Liaise with Purchasing and obtain costs for all required elements, prepare the most accurate cost estimate possible for the most costeffective solution and present the finalized solution to Finance for pricing.
