The Senior Production Geologist will aid in the development, iterative refinement, and optimization of appropriate ore control procedures for the challenging high-grade epithermal mineralization at Brucejack. The incumbent will work in close association with both the Chief Mine Geologist and Technical Services Manager (or designate) and will assist with the planning, execution and interpretation stages of geological data collection and will be a key contributor to all new geological models, Mineral Resource, and Mineral Reserve estimates for short- and long-term mine planning. The position requires strong commitment to the highest levels of professionalism, health and safety standards, and environmental protection.

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Monitor and evaluate geological and analytical data quality on an ongoing basis and work closely with the Vancouver-based Database Manager and Resource team.
  • Ensure that quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) measures are implemented throughout the grade control process (including data validation), and that data quality is of the highest standard.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a portfolio of underground mine projects, regularly reviewing projects with the Chief Mine Geologist, ensuring decision points are developed & maintained, and project deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Work with other departments to understand short-, intermediate-, and long-term planning goals and develop strategies to align the timing and specification of geology outputs to achieve these.
  • Liaise with and provide support to the underground geotechnical team on ground control issues.
  • Lead in the implementation of a level-by-level underground geological and structural mapping program and train the geological team on best practices and interpretive excellence.
  • Work closely with Chief Mine Exploration Geologist (or designate) and assist with the implementation of Brownfields Exploration program(s) at the mine.
  • Communicate key learnings from advances in knowledge of the underground geology and controls on mineralization to the resource modeling and exploration geology teams, in addition to within the underground mine geology team.
  • Mentor the underground mine geology team to achieve a high level of operational capability, providing regular and constructive feedback.
