We are recruiting for a
Development Technician I - Temporary contract until January 7, 2024 - for our production facility in Kanata, Ontario.


JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in troubleshooting, custom maintenance and repairs, project activities and research for technical support and development. Assembles equipment and runs tests and experiments. Assists in commissioning new processes, products, equipment and facilities.

WORK PERFORMED:

  • Assists in troubleshooting eguipment and facilities. Assists in custom maintenance and repairs of equipment.
  • Performs tasks associated with process technical support and new process or product development projects as directed.
  • Assembles eguipment, runs and performs experiments to established drawings, specifications and procedures. Gathers data for analysis and reports results, Assists in writing reports.
  • Assists in commissioning new processes, products facilities and equipment.
  • Provides technical advice as directed.
  • Assists on consulting jobs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Technologist Diploma (3 years), plus 3 years of relevant technical experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be familiar with Company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to build processes and equipment from designs.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend drawings, schematics, specifications and technical literature.
  • Must be resourceful, creative, and objective.
  • A basic knowledge of personal computers is desirable.
  • Must be knowledgeable about radiation and industrial hazards and the techniques to reduce these hazards.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND DECISIONS:

  • Technical decisions in the performance of routine assignments.
  • Recommends need for routine maintenance, repair or replacement.

CONSEQUENCE OF ERRORS:


Technical errors may lead to out-of-specification products, missed deadlines for projects and customer orders, incorrect assessment of development projects and technical support activities, inadequate or malfunctioning equipment.

In activities involving radioactivity, radiation, high voltage, toxicity or other hazards to self, fellow employees and general public.

COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Normal communications with other groups.
  • Must be able to describe results to supervision

None

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER DISTINGUISHING ASPECTS:

  • Classed as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Frequently working with radioactive materials and processes.
  • Overtime may be required.
