YOUR ROLE


As a Project Manager at Caltech, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and final completion of specific projects related to surveying and mapping.


Reporting to the Director of AB Operations, you will ensure that every project is consistent with Caltech's commitments, goals, and strategies, as well as adheres to all applicable laws, standards, legislation, and regulations.


Your duties will include:

  • Plan, schedule and manage project timeliness and cost.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools;
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements;
  • Manage project resource allocation;
  • Oversee the creation of client deliverables and contribute to the development of methodologies and procedures for conducting various types surveys;
  • Certify survey drawings;
  • Ensure that appropriate margins are maintained, project by project and client by client;
  • Maintain timely and accurate invoicing;
  • Provide direction and support to project team
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, leadership, motivation, and coaching to employees.
  • Actively promote a rewarding, challenging and supportive work environment for team members.
  • Develop strong client relations, work to secure new clients and increase opportunities with existing clients;
  • Assist Business Development with finding and approaching potential clients.
  • Implements strategies to ensure that the deliverable or product meets the client requirements.
  • Review plans before they are sent to the client
  • Promote Caltech's core values and strategic plan.
  • Actively participate in various Caltech employee programs including but not limited to Caltech's Quality, HSE, HR, Indigenous and other programs.

YOUR SKILLS

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in geomatics engineering or survey engineering OR a college diploma in survey science or geomatics technology;
  • Currently an Alberta Land Surveyor, Land Surveyor in Training or Commissioned Land Surveyor from another jurisdiction with intent to obtain a commission as an Alberta Land Surveyor.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in the Microsoft 365 environment
  • Strong business presence excellent work ethic, flexibility, resourcefulness, maturity and sound judgment;
  • Strong analytical skills ;
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple clients at one time and contribute to a high performing team ;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong commitment to excellence, attention to detail and professional development.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit along with the ability to seek out and develop new business relationships.
  • Proven ability to build strong interpersonal relationships both internally and externally.

It would also be an asset if you have:

  • Commission as a Canada Lands Surveyor
  • Commission as a British Columbia Land Surveyor
