Reporting to the Coordinator ‐ Health Records, theTranscription Editor IV interprets and transcribes complex clinical

documentation by clinicians regarding patient assessment, work up,therapeutic procedures, diagnosis, prognosis,

etc. in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery ofhealth care services.

Qualifications:

Combined medical terminology, transcription and voice editingskill sets to transcribe 115 minutes/ day

Competency in speech‐recognition editing functions

Ability to type a minimum of 75 words per minute

Minimum education level of medical secretarial college diplomaor equivalent in work experience and continuing

education

Minimum two years experience medical transcription in an acutehealth care centre

Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy andphysiology, clinical medicine, surgery, oncology,

diagnostic tests,

laboratory, and pharmacology

Advanced knowledge of medical transcription guidelines andpractices

Excellent written and oral communication skills includingEnglish usage, grammar, punctuation, and style

Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varyingdictation styles

Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation, andtranscription equipment, and other equipment as

specified

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to work under pressure with a fast paced, high volumeworkload

Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods

Excellent listening skills

Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination

Salary Range: $27.838 to 28.475
