This is a unionized position, full union rate with pension and benefits are on top of the posted rate. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Directional Driller and/or Drill Locator will be responsible for all directional drilling jobs. Planning and execution to meet the project demands.

As a drill Operator you will be responsible for operating and locating on the drill as well as drive the support vehicle(s) used to transport the equipment to various project sites.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pretrip/walk around safety inspections and complete necessary safety paperwork and documentation.
  • Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely
  • Adhering to specific policies and regulations
  • Adhering to site specific rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients
  • Working as a member of the team by assisting other members when required.
  • Load and Unload the directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Transport associated tools, materials, and/or equipment
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to bore shot commencing
  • In conjunction with locator, operate the direction drilling using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place ducts.
  • Troubleshoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance and/or resolution
  • Able to operate drill or locator as required.
  • Any and all other duties assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • AZ License, with clean Driving Abstract, required.
  • 3+ Years of Directional Drilling Experience, preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of Underground Utilities and Locates
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced high change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments of priorities throughout the day.
  • Experience with Vermeer Horizonal Bore Machines, preferred
  • Ability to life 50lbs (23kg)
  • Ability to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
  • Good Communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
