Shipping and Receiving Technician

Department:

YYC Shipping

Reports to:

Logistics Manager

Work Schedule:

8 Hours; Day Shifts - Monday to Friday


This position Prepares orders by processing and supplying requests, pulling materials, packing, wrapping and labelling pallets, and placing material in staging area.

Perform receiving inspections on incoming orders to ensure requirements are met; ensures incoming items are properly identified before being released.


Duties:

  • Unload incoming material shipments and store efficiently in designated locations
  • Organize and identify stock and maintain inventory; restock materials as required
  • Performing receiving inspections on materials for defects and damage
  • Organize space in the warehouse
  • Maintain quality service by following organization standards
  • Adhere to health, safety, and quality policies, as well as all company policies and procedures
  • Arrange shipment of product as required by order documentation in an accurate and timely based on commitments made to the customer
  • Receiving product accurately and timely so the product is available for order fulfillment as soon as possible
  • Assist in inventory management through documentation processes and yearly inventory counts, as well as monthly cycle counts
  • Responding to any shipping discrepancies in a timely manner based on service level commitments
  • Operate forklift in a safe manner; this includes utilizing proper safety precautions to ensure equipment and loads in the company forklift are safely secured for transportation
  • Participate in training and safety meetings as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Organized and good attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to report and track items
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Forklift operator certification
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs, lift items weighing more than 50 lbs with assistance from other workers, forklift and/or overhead hoist
  • Ability to work with others in a fast paced environment to achieve job goals
  • Work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, able to work unsupervised and selfmotivated
  • Good physical fitness
  • Requires attention to detail, precision and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English to Grade 12 standard
  • Good phone manner/writing skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS office including Excel and Outlook)
