This is a term position up to twelve (12) months. Position Summary

This position is responsible for the management of multiple work crews that deliver a variety of citywide operational services including new construction and maintenance of temporary and permanent traffic control devices regulatory and street signage and pavement markings This position also is responsible for managing crews to direct and divert vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the city streets and high speed roadways This position reports to a Supervisor
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide leadership to organize and supervise multiple work crews engaged in the installation preservation and maintenance of traffic control devices regulatory and street signage and pavement markings
Installs maintains and removes the appropriate devices used to control work zones in a manner that meets all local and legal requirements
Monitors work zones to provide efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians while being safe to the public and designated work crews
Provide records management by maintaining computerized work activity on a daily basis
Develop traffic control strategies and execute traffic accommodation plans while managing crews to safely direct and divert vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the city streets and high speed roadways
During the winter months provide leadership and oversee work activities in the Sign shop and field including seasonal street decorations bridge guard rail repairs fabricating installing replacing and maintenance of signs and other Branch projects as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor
Inspect assess monitor operate and maintain equipment in the delivery of operational services related to traffic control devices regulatory and street signage and pavement markings Provide guidance and direction on the safe use of the equipment to crew members
Inspect assess and monitor traffic control devices regulatory and street signage and pavement markings to ensure safe passage of vehicles and pedestrian on city streets and high speed roadways
Provide training supervision and leadership for the installation and maintenance of traffic accommodations so that city operated work zones and the control of vehicle/pedestrian traffic is carried out efficiently effectively respectfully and safely in accordance with legislation policies practises and standards
Monitor maintain and assess work processes for the purpose of improving the efficiency effectiveness and safety of the work crews Communicate any changes in work process to work crews and monitor progress of such changes Work processes typically involve weekly expenditures equipment usage production performance quality of products and customer service More Duties & Responsibilities
Identify and recommend changes and improvements to plans related to traffic control devices regulatory and street signage and pavement markings programs procedures materials equipment staffing and work schedules
Promote enforce and assure compliance of personnel crew equipment and materials at work sites to meet Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Procedures Engineering Plans Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and National Safety Codes
Interpret legislation and communicates specifications drawings diagrams manuals work orders and city policies and standards to employees to ensure compliance with requirements
Interpret and communicate specifications blueprints diagrams manuals work orders procedures guidelines and policies to employees and contractors to ensure compliance with requirements
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of time production and reports submitted by members of multiple work crews
Requisition and purchase material small tools and supplies within the limits of established authority
Coordinate resources communication and work activities with other supervisory staff and employees to establish or adjust work schedules processes and programs to meet required deadlines targets goals and objectives
Monitor identify and evaluate infrastructure assets and services for operational performance community safety and compliance with Corporate policies and standards
Investigate assess and prepare written documentation and recommendations in regards to concerns and inquiries from internal and external customers and carries out effective public relations and communication with a strong customer service orientation
