We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Specialist - Transit / Rail who will have the chance to work under the direction of the Manager - Continual Improvement, based here in Toronto.

In this role you'll be accountable for facilitating process mapping workshops and assisting the Functional Leads, SMEs and senior members of Product Delivery Teams to map out their current practices.

You'll help to design new business processes based on industry accepted efficient processes (best practices) and provide expertise and collaborate with continual improvement task force teams to design new processes and/or optimize the current processes based on process improvement methods such as Lean and Six Sigma.

Functional/Technical:

  • Reporting to Manager, Continual Improvement and responsible for designing and redesigning business processes for a large Transit / Rail project in cooperation with Functional Leads, PDTs and external consultants.
  • Coordinates process mapping workshops to identify and map out the highlevel processes based on current practices.
  • Provides expert advice to the process owners for optimizing current processes based on process improvement methods such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Collaborates with Quality Steering Committee and the continual improvement task force team to develop new business processes based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Works with SMEs in different functions to develop detailed (activity level) processes for their daytoday activities.
  • Cooperates with cross functional teams to integrate their individual processes into the clients integrated network of processes.
  • Provides advice to other Business Units within our client's organization on process mapping exercises and helps them develop interface processes within the project.
  • Designs new quality processes based on industry accepted practices to achieve resiliency and efficiency in quality management.
  • Assists the process owners to redesign their processes to align them with major organizational changes.
  • Provides training to quality team on continual improvement methods, so that they can assist internal customers with process improvement.
  • Supports Managers, Program Assurance, PQALs or SQAs and QA Coordinators in developing the customized project specific processes as per contractual requirements.
  • Coaches Quality Auditors in review of quality processes submitted by Contractors and TAs as part of their Quality Management Plans.
  • Provides guidance to the Project and other Business Units within our clients' organization on purchase and/or utilization of advanced process mapping tools.

Customer/Stakeholder:

  • Develops and cultivates key relationships with a wide number of internal and external stakeholders, including process owners, process sponsors, QSC members, SMEs, PDTs and continual improvement task force teams.
  • Acts as an ambassador and liaison for our client in provincial or national technical forums as necessary.

Operational Excellence:

  • Develops and implements effective process mapping strategies and practices, incorporating industry best practices.
  • Supports project teams in designing and redesigning business processes to achieve project and corporate goals.
  • Provides technical expertise in cross departmental teams tasked with process improvement and efficiency projects.
  • Develops an indepth understanding of the business processes, assets, facilities, responsibilities, regulatory requirements, and interdependencies within our client.
  • Carries out research for projects and potential initiatives and analyses the research results.

Financial Stewardship:

  • Provides cost benefit analysis to business cases.

People Leadership:
