Summary - Night Shift


Reporting to the Sanitation Leader, the Team Leader - Sanitation is responsible for the sanitation and organization of all equipment, machinery and utensils used in the production process as well as the cleanliness of the plant and external premises while providing hands-on leadership.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members
  • Conduct preshift huddles and provides feedback for Team Members
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, and trains Sanitation Team Leaders
  • Coordinates all sanitation activities to accomplish sanitation practices according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's)
  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation records.
  • Leads sanitation personnel onsite and ensuring daily requirements/procedures are carried out.
  • Conducts SWAP test as necessary.
  • Performs all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the BRC food safety standards.
  • Ensures all chemicals used in the cleaning process are mixed with a proper solution according to the suppliers' specifications.
  • Ensures Sanitation Team members are adequately trained and works with contractor or internal supporting groups to resolves training if deficiencies are found.
  • Works with QA to Maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule as per FGF's guidelines, ensuring all daily, weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semiannual and Annual tasks are performed and documented.
  • Maintains sanitation chemical inventory.
  • Participates in the visual preop inspection at the end of the cleaning process in order to ensure that the lines meet the required standards and follow up on identified deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Participates in selfinspections and follow up on actions items.
  • Provides feedback on team member and/or team performance to the Corporate Sanitation Leader
  • Creates a continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen/5S) environment by improving products, service, and processes with the objective to reduce waste, improve cleaning effectiveness within the area while striving for efficiency and profitability within Sanitation.
  • Locks out, dismantles, cleans and sanitizes production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 34 years of experience working in a sanitation environment with a proven track record of prior leadership experience.
  • Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet demands.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue.
  • Scissor Lift license is an asset.
  • Familiar with internal and external inspections
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, BRC & O.H.S.A required
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Postsecondary education an asset
