KING TAEKWONDO is a new name for the Ontario location. We are one of the largest martial arts school in British Columbia, with over 10 family schools.

The founder of King Taekwondo operates the location in Langley BC, which is known for its exceptional programs and services.

At the main location in BC (Langley Taekwondo Academy), about 500 students are currently training. We are very excited to open a new 2nd location with over 4000 sf in Barrie, Ontario.

We are looking for Instructors and Front desk person who can enjoy classes and grow together.

Job Title:
Taekwondo Instructor

Terms of Employment:
Permanent, Part Time or Full Time

Salary:
$16-20 per hour depending on experience

Benefit: 2 weeks annual vacation

Anticipated Start Date:
July and August

Location:
South Barrie, ON

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and carry out recreational, athletic, fitness and sports activities
  • Assemble supplies and sports and game equipment
  • Demonstrate and instruct athletic, fitness or sports activities and techniques
  • Instruct groups and individuals in arts, crafts and similar activities and lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs
  • Attend to clients with special needs
  • Provide lifestyle awareness information
  • Conduct therapeutic recreational or athletic activities
  • Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations
  • Assist with coordination of special events
  • Schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records and prepare reports
  • May train and supervise staff
  • May maintain and repair sports equipment.
  • Identify strength and areas for improvement for any age of athletics and/or masters;
  • Plan, develop and execute training and practice the highest level of Taekwondo components (Basic Movements, Poomse, Sparring, Self Defense, Breaking Techniques)
  • Engage with all ages both athletics and masters to nurture and develop skills and talents for highest potential through strong communication skills;
  • Motivate and mentor athletes for competitive events at our Regional, Provincial, and National events.
  • Create workable strategies for success to lead each athletes for next level, during regular training as well as competitive events;
  • Teach our Standardized Curriculum to participants and athletes of all ages
  • Coach our current staff for advance level Poomse and Sparring moves;
  • To teach Taegeuk Poomse 8, Koryo, Keumgang, Taebaek, Pyongwon, Sipjin
  • Assist with owners in developing higher caliber masters with a training plan for grass roots and high performance athletes;
  • Facilitate with parents or caregivers of athletes to encourage and motivate to support athletes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently while interacting professionally with students aged 46, 813, 14+, seniors, special needs students and working effectively with owner and staff
  • Must be a minimum of Kukkiwon 1st dan (official certificate and/or dan card must be provided)
  • Must be proficient in World Taekwondo Poomse (Taegeuk
  • Koryo)
  • Experience MUST be in WTF
  • World Taekwondo Federation (the style that is in the Olympics). This is the style that is worldwide in over 206 countries

Experience:
Seven (7) years training experience in World Taekwondo Federation style Taekwondo

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • must be a team player and be able to guide, facilitate, support students in training in a high paced, busy environment
- must be physically fit, flexible, demonstrate at a high level the techniques and skills of a certified Kukkiwon Black Belt in Taekwondo.
