ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This role is responsible for assisting the Manager of Merchandising and Planning in the management of the product throughout its lifecycle, through a clear understanding of our product strategies, offerings, and performance, as well as our competitors trading strategies with ownership of a category.
Planning
- Partner with Manager of Merchandising and Planning to develop and execute financial plans consisting of sales, receipts, inventory, and margin.
- Provide strong leadership, support, and direction to the Manager of Merchandise & Planning to deliver results.
- Participate in business reviews and assortment planning.
- Manage and monitor inventory levels, sellthrough and inbound shipments.
- Identify business opportunities to drive collection volumes and profitability utilizing competitive analysis, business analysis and market data.
- Collaborate with district managers to create monthly feedback reports on the most recent deliveries based on field reports. Highlight areas for improvement and identify successes with reasons for their success.
- Build and manage files/databases used for forecasting and planning (at the detail level regarding colour fit and fashionablity).
- Develop and distribute collection line lists.
- Create best sellers sheet displaying seasonal data of sell thru information.
- Manages the plan for key channels of the business including retail, outlet, license partners and eCommerce.
- Under the direction of the Manager, Merchandise and Planning, performs/completes other additional project, duties, and assignments as required and/or by request.
Demand
- In close collaboration with the Manager of Merchandise & Planning, accurately forecast product demand on a weekly basis including new assortment launches and inventory replenishment needs.
- Own new product launch forecasts to support merchandising and marketing strategies.
- Lead the business reporting process and product data base accuracy, in partnership with supporting crossfunctional teams.
- Define optimal stock levels and inventory allocation across multiple channels, including Ecommerce, Outlets, Warehouse and Stores.
- Represent the department as member of the Ecommerce quality assurance committee, ensuring online inventory and pricing is accurate.
Product Knowledge
- Represent North America at international retail order meetings (held in Germany 6 times per year), buying each collection based on the plan to maximize sales.
- Liaise regularly with the design & merchandising leads at German HQ by assessing the needs of the North American market, recommending suitable trends to incorporate into future products developed.
- Lead instore customer events to support store sales growth, improving field wardrobing skills and product knowledge.
- Develop product knowledge materials, including but not withstanding presentations for the field with each collection to support trend information and têxtile advancements.
- Identify and translate fashion trends for the North American buy; build plan catered uniquely to the Canadian market and the US market.
- Act as spokesperson at internal meetings, presenting each collection with clear communication of trend, materials, and wardrobing using appropriate fashion terminology.
- Develop and prepare business based recommendations to improve results including pricing, product design and address any quality concern.
- End to end execution of the buy process, including entering P.O. information, building look books, and creating data uploads.
- Work in partnership with the Manager, Merchandise and Planning on domestic accessory buys.

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, TRAITS) AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related course such as marketing, retail management, international business, etc., combined with experience of working in a retail home office environment.
- 5+ years' experience merchandising planning and buying or a similar position.

- Strong presentation skills, specifically strong product presentation skills
