At Augmenta , we create software for the construction industry that fully automates the design of buildings - completely transforming the industry and empowering architects, engineers, contractors and developers. We're a global team, headquartered in Toronto, Canada with a team of brilliant, kind and collaborative scientists, engineers and designers. We are spread across Canada, the US, and Italy, making our workplace a remote-first and distributed environment.

We've already built and delivered incredible software, and now we need your help to develop our first product and deliver it to market.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team at Augmenta. You will own the user experience of our first product. You will work closely with product leadership and with our customers to define requirements and an ideal user experience, and will then work with our engineering team to ensure that experience is delivered as planned. This role reports to the Head of Product.

Please note; this is a big role, as the only Product Designer on the team we are looking for someone who can own UI/UX, Research and a little bit of marketing support (maybe 2 hours per week), and someone ideally to be able to eventually grow into our Design Director and lead a team. Now, while this is a big role, this is not a culture of chaos or 80 hour work weeks, this is a group of mature, detail focused professionals who work smart and then go home to their families

What you'll own
  • Own the user experience for our first product as we grow from beta to a commercial, scalable product.
  • Establish design paradigms for future products and adjacent industries.
  • Plan and execute research initiatives with current and future customers.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leads to prioritize, plan and build new features, flows or components.
  • Design intuitive flows and experiences that simplify complex requirements into user-friendly interfaces.
  • Own, curate, and enhance the design system to maintain consistency between surfaces.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts by creating visually appealing graphics for the corporate website, blog posts, or social media to elevate the Augmenta brand.(10% of the work)
About You
  • 5+ years of professional product design experience, including leading design efforts and shipping large or complex products/features.
  • Experience working with complex user or business domains such as (but not limited to) engineering, architecture, finance, etc.
  • Proven ability to plan and lead user research and workshops to understand customer sentiment, pain-points and needs.
  • High proficiency in Figma , with the ability to visualize and prototype complex solutions in both low and high fidelity.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex design concepts and product requirements to internal and external stakeholders through design briefs, user stories, or technical diagrams.
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation processes
  • Familiarity with design systems, including the use or creation of reusable components.
  • Experience leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to inform design strategy, communicate business value, and measure the success of design initiatives.
  • Experience mapping out complex user journeys across multiple personas, touchpoints and systems.
  • Exceptional visual design skills with a keen eye for creating beautiful graphics and interfaces.
  • Comfortable with writing user-facing content / copy

  • Experience working with or designing for Autodesk Revit
  • Experience designing experiences for 3D authoring (ie. CAD) environments
  • Exposure to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry
  • Experience utilizing the Ant Design React Library
  • Experience with motion graphics or 3D visualization software

  • Our team is remote-first however all employees must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be located in Canada. At this time we do not offer sponsorship.
