We are seeking a Team Leader for our Catalyst Research and Development (R&D) team at our Centre for Applied Research in Calgary, Alberta.

The Catalyst R&D team is responsible for the development of new catalysts that lead to olefin feedstocks and new polyolefin-based polymers with improved performance characteristics.


As the Team Leader, you will create the Catalyst R&D vision and set the strategy as well as provide coaching, support and guidance to ahigh-performance team through teaching, sharing, collaboration, and communication with all parts of the organization.

The Catalyst R&D team works collaboratively in cross-functional teams to research, develop, propose and execute bold, innovative projects with incorporation of sound decision and risk analysis.


You Will Use Your Expertise in the Following Areas:
Ethics and Compliance, Responsible Care and Sustainability

Act as an ambassador, internally and externally, to promote the principles and practices of the Code of Conduct, a culture of Ethics and Compliance, Responsible Care and Sustainability.

Model the principles of Ethics and Compliance, Responsible Care and Sustainability within the team and ensure an understanding and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Ensure employees understand their roles and responsibilities and have the necessary information / training to effectively integrate our Code of Conduct, Responsible Care and Sustainability into their work.

Make sound decisions that responsibly manage risk at a company and personal level including understanding and communicating potential risks and solutions to mitigate.

Share a commitment with our industry to preserve and maintain the health and safety of our people, assets, communities and the environment.

Help others understand and articulate how NOVA Chemicals brings value to society.

Provide input to the business planning process for the Catalyst R&D team and communicate the business plan to employees.
Communicate key performance metrics and develop the team accountability and capabilities to close any gaps and achieve business results.
Ensure the work is carried out and delegates tasks appropriately.
