PLEA Community Services is looking for an Excluded Full-Time Indigenous Elder/Knowledge Keeper in Residence for their Folkstone-NWT team based in Abbotsford, BC.

The position is available as soon as possible to provide cultural guidance and support to PLEA's participants, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders. Working closely with the Indigenous Matters Committee is crucial to coordinate cultural services effectively.

Abbotsford, BC

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday from 9:00AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 12:00PM to 8:00PM (37.5 working hours/week), with the possibility of evening and weekend shifts.


Minimum Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of First Nations Peoples of Canada history and culture.
- Experience in social services organizations with cultural program development.
- Demonstrated support in cultural ceremonies and services.
- Previous engagements with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities.

- Develop strategies based on evaluations and best practices.
- Provide guidance to management teams and staff.
- Educate on First Nations culture and traditions.
- Collaborate in organizing cultural events and ceremonies.
- Support the Indigenous Matters Committee and agency cultural framework.
- Mentor staff and volunteers on cultural plans.
- Represent PLEA in community events and meetings.
