In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary


The Systems Administrator II designs systems hardware and software solutions, defines systems scope, and provides recommendations for all systems supported infrastructure as part of MedIT (Faculty of Medicine IT) operations.

This position consults on process and procedures to ensure secure electronic processing and data storage.

The role also provides IT systems infrastructure advice and training to operational support staff, and maintains systems & data availability.

The individual will be required to respond to a cellular phone during regular business hours (Monday to Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

The incumbent may be required to change work site locations and will be required to work on-call shifts providing after regular business hours support.

Work Performed

Specific Duties:

  • Analyses, designs, implements, & supports research, instructional, and administrative computing systems for Faculty of Medicine.
  • Consults as required and directed by the Service Delivery Manager or Senior Systems Administrator with other MedIT teams, and University and Health care partners for all matters involving systems design, analysis, and operations.
  • Resolves critical systems incidents and implementation of major changes under the direction of the Senior Systems Administrator.
  • Develops & maintains documentation of all MedIT and externally provisioned infrastructure.
  • Participates in business continuity planning and development of procedures.
