Position Summary

Are you passionate about nursing? We have an exciting opportunity for you We are looking for a motivated Registered Nurse to join our team at Bulkley Valley District Hospital. As a member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate patient care while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Director of Care, you will be guided by the Visions and Values of Northern Health, BCCNM Standards of Practice, and Codes of Ethics.

Your responsibilities will include identifying, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients. You will also participate in the Northern Health In-House Emergency Training Program to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Preparation will involve:
  • Introducing fundamental concepts in emergency nursing
  • Developing specialized skills and knowledge for safe patient care
  • Promoting professionalism in the field
  • Training positions available for 2024/2025 with support for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses
  • Required completion of pre-requisite courses and commitment to a 4-month education program
  • Flexibility for practicums and preference for candidates with acute care ward experience
  • Mandatory BLS certification and preference for ECG course completion
  • Upon successful completion, an 18-month return of service is required

Join us at Bulkley Valley District Hospital, where you will work in a 24-bed Acute Care facility offering various services such as emergency care, medical, surgical, maternity, palliative care, and more.

Qualifications
  • Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Post-graduate certification or relevant experience in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing
  • Current CPR and ACLS certifications preferred
  • Completion of Specially Trained Nursing Skills within six months
Skills and Abilities:
  • Adept at managing patient care equipment
  • Ability to handle emergency situations and provide direction to staff
  • Effective communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and in a team
