Activities:

In pursuit of our mission, Literacy Quebec engages in a wide range of activities, including:

  • Providing professional development opportunities for literacy practitioners
  • Advocating for literacy
  • Working in partnership with government agencies
  • Networking with literacyrelated groups
  • Raising awareness of the importance of literacy in Quebec

General Accountability:

  • Reporting to the Executive Director, the Partnerships and Policy Manager is responsible for overseeing key Literacy Quebec partnerships. The Partnerships Manager will be tasked with developing and recruiting new strategic relationships with relevant entities, and supporting funding and policy opportunities while maintaining and managing existing Literacy Quebec partnerships._

Duties & Responsibilities will include:

- _Work with partners to identify and facilitate opportunities for synergy and support_
- _Stay up to date with and track developments in the literacy and languages sector_
- _Maintain ongoing relationships with government stakeholders_
- _Create literacy communication and advocacy networks_
- _Execute background research and create reports related to Literacy Quebec's ongoing projects and overall mandate_
- _Produce informational briefs, reports and policy analyses, for LQ staff and related stakeholders_
- _Analyse client and stakeholder data and create strategic reports surrounding LQ's impact_
- _Participate on advisory and decision-making tables and represent the needs and challenges of the network_
- _Monitor and track applicable data related to English-speakers in Quebec_
- _Draft recommendations pertinent to LQ and the broader literacy sector_
- _Identify trends, funding or otherwise, within the literacy and languages community_
- _Advocate for LQ and its mandate in both government and media_
- _Document and collect data both internally and externally on issues relevant to LQ_
- _Build upon existing relationships, keeping records of relationship updates and developments_
- _Share LQ updates and information with external stakeholders, communicating LQ's activities and engagements_
- _Represent LQ at relevant public meetings, conferences and events_
- _Support the Project Manager by identifying relevant areas for development and partnership_

Qualifications:

- _Bilingual_
(French and English, mandatory)_
- _Post secondary degree in languages, communications, political science or other related areas_
- _Excellent understanding of the adult literacy landscape and the interests, priorities and needs of the English-speaking community in Quebec_
- _Proven successful outreach experience in association or not for profit context (particularly, but not exclusive to the Quebec context)_
- _Ability to gather information, extract relevant data, draw logical conclusions, and present recommendations_
- _Experience in public speaking and giving presentations_
- _Experience working with multiple partners organizations and government entities_
- _Experience in policy making and policy analysis_
- _Ability to conduct wide ranging self-motivated research_
- _Technology savvy - able to leverage standard tools to communicate effectively within the organization and to external partners and interested parties._
- _Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French, including extensive experience writing reports and documents_
- _Ability to communicate effectively and professionally_
- _Excellent planning, management, facilitation and coordination skills_
- _Ability to work well with people and to act with sound judgement in diverse situations_

Location:

Primarily remote working

Salary:45,000$ to 50,000$ based on qualifications and experience

Terms of employment and benefits:

  • 32 hrs/week, (option of a 4day work week) with remote work options;
  • Contract is until March 31st, 2024 (with possibility of renewal or extension, depending on funding);
  • Three weeks paid vacation after ten months of work;
  • Five other days, paid, that may be used in case of sickness, injury, family commitments etc.
  • Flextime offered, as long as a majority of the work is completed during
