The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert has an opportunity available for a permanent full-time and a term full-time Facility Services Worker – Certified, to join the Facility Services Branch of our Public Operations department.

Under the supervision of the Team Lead – Facility Services, the Facility Services Worker – Certified performs various duties in all areas of maintenance and repair, as well as assisting in the alteration and installation of all systems in compliance with corporate and provincially legislated Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies and codes of practice and the City of St Albert Environmental Management System.

The individual we seek has demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to supervise and instruct others, as well as work independently with minimal supervision. Strong customer service skills are required, as is the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public & building tenants.

This position is represented by the CUPE Local 941 Collective Agreement.

Qualifications


•Grade 12 education

•5th Class Power Engineer

•Class 5 Alberta Drivers license

•Current First Aid Certification

•A minimum of 5 years of recent experience, directly related building operation systems, experience including HVAC, boilers, electrical, mechanical control systems and security systems.

•Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office programs.

•The successful applicant must successfully complete the necessary training to become a Certified Playground Inspector within 6 months of employment commencement.

Hours of Work

7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m Monday to Friday
Participation in the standby roster will be required.

Compensation

$33.19 per hour. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package.

Term


•One permanent full-time

•One term-term full-time from July 2024 to approximately April 2025

Conditions of Employment

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory police information check and a RCMP issued Reliability clearance. This process can take several months, and failure to obtain this clearance will result in ending your employment with the City of St. Albert as you will be unable to fulfil the duties of your position. An Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
