Position Summary

Maintain shop machinery and equipment in working order. Keep facility clean, organized, and comply with safety standards. Assist in maintaining work flow at the shop as requested, organize materials and finished goods, keep grounds neat, and perform routine maintenance for the facility.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Maintain a safe work environment, wear required PPE, observe safety rules and regulations.
  • Mechanical: Assist in maintenance and repair, service and clean shop equipment, refurbish rental equipment.
  • Fabrication: Assist Welder/Fabricator Specialists with welding, participate in fabrication, operate machinery, and paint.
  • Maintenance: Clean and organize shop, move materials, replace parts, keep eye wash stations clean, and perform routine inspections.
  • Yard: Organize yard space, assist in disposal of equipment and materials, handle recycling and waste disposal.
  • Other: Assist in maintenance, records management, furniture moving, and supplies management.
  • Problem Resolution: Handle routine problems and schedule interruptions.
  • Performance: Perform assigned duties, follow rules and regulations, work effectively with others.

Qualifications:

  • Required Licenses or Specific Training: Must have a valid driver's license, demonstrate good driving record.
  • Other Required Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities: Must be self-motivated, flexible, and demonstrate ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interpersonal Communications: Ability to understand directions, communicate effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Language Skills: Must read, speak, and write English proficiently.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Equivalent work experience in a shop environment considered.

Physical Demands

This job requires good physical fitness, heavy lifting, bending, and other physical activities. Specific vision abilities are also necessary, and the role may involve mental and physical stress due to deadlines.

Fitness for Duty

All employees must pass a drug and alcohol test and be capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position.

Work Environment

The work environment is hazardous, requiring adherence to safety protocols such as zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, stop work authority, and attendance of safety classes and seminars.

Reporting Relationships

  • Complexity of Duties and Decisions: Basic mechanical ability, awareness of safety requirements, time management, and organization skills are essential.
  • Authority: Acts under the Production Manager's direction, works in compliance with safe practices.
