The Yellowknife Co-operative is looking for a motivated, and detail oriented individual to join our team as a meat clerk.

You will be responsible for providing exceptional member and customer service, maintaining a clean and organized meat department, and assisting both customers, meat cutters and wrappers in carrying out their duties.

To provide customer service in a manner that models exemplary conduct to other staff and maintain positive member relations through the proper handling of questions, comments and complaints.

• Effectively work in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
• Prepares Meat product for purchase.
• Replaces stock, rotates current stock, and ensures satisfactory inventory levels.
• Has knowledge of and adheres to all policies and procedures pertaining to the Meat operation.
• Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of all equipment, including reporting required repairs to manager or supervisor.
• Presents a neat and clean department while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Performs duties following established safety, health and environmental regulations and standards to ensure the safety of all customers and staff.
• Understands, follows, and instructs all pertinent Food Safety guidelines, procedures and requirements.
• Ensures the proper handling of merchandise.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Experience in retail preferred
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, to ensure accuracy of all transactions, inventory, and procedures.
• Driven to deliver superior service by exceeding customer expectations.
• Present a professional image in appearance, words and actions.
• Open availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, store opening and closings, to meet the needs of the business.

• Must have physical stamina to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity required to use department equipment and peripherals.
• Overtime as required.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to break down and reassemble all equipment in the department for sanitation purposes.
• Ability to perform work in a cooler.
