Your Responsibilities:


In the short term, this position will be heavily focused on project work and will support country wide initiatives which impact all Canadian divisions.

We are looking for a self-starter who would like to grow within our organization, learn about all of our divisions (sales and marketing, financial, warehousing, manufacturing, corporate functions), and take on many different roles and responsibilities as you evolve your career within Deere.


  • Lead continuous improvement work in relation to our core HR processes. This would entail gathering feedback and data to understand current state and then build on our current processes. Be willing to complete all hands on work and then work with Canadian HR Shared Services (AskHR, Benefits, Recruiting) to implement the improvements. Create communication materials and strategies to support process change as needed.
  • Project representative for Canada on global projects. Report out on these projects during Canada HR team meetings.
  • Support our Canadian divisions through project work, as requested by HR Managers. The HR Generalist will be provided the opportunity to visit each facility and job shadow each HR Manager for extended periods of time to support their development. The HR Generalist must be willing to step into a division HR role in the future, as needs dictate.
  • Serve as the lead on running short term/long term disability programs. This will entail an attention to detail and ability to remain extremely organized.
  • On rare occasion, the HR Generalist may need to assist a Canadian HR shared service (AskHR, Benefits, Recruiting) in the event of an acquisition or other unique circumstance. This may result in work that is considered tactical or administrative on occasion.

What Skills You Need:

  • University graduate with a master's degree in industrial relations or human resources strongly preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn.
  • Solid project management skills including the ability to manage many different types of projects and activities simultaneously. Ability to create excitement around those projects.
  • Ability to work with and provide excellent support to all levels of the organization from our production workforce to the presidents of our Canadian divisions.
  • Ability to partner with and influence local and global HR team members in adopting or accepting best or new practices.
  • Willingness to work on projects with good visibility, while at the same time having an openness to occasional tasks which are considered more administrative in nature.

Education:

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • University graduate with a master's degree in industrial relations or human resources strongly preferred.
