Overview:


The buyer will support and execute the operational and tactical procurement of goods and services at local level under the leadership of the procurement manager - South West Ontario and in close cooperation with Procurement Managers, Category Managers and the business.


Responsibilities:

Operational Procurement:

  • Create local purchase orders for supplies, equipment and services within authorized signature limits with prequalified suppliers.
  • Support and execute the procurement of goods and services in accordance with category strategies, as well as applicable policies, procedures, and specifications.
  • Generate RFQ's for low to medium spend in accordance with procurement policy in collaboration with operations and other stakeholders
  • Maintain the Integrity of spend classification and other PO requirements
  • Drive the process of new vendor registration on the system

Negotiations & Savings:

  • Support the realization of the cost savings initiatives at local level in line with zone and global strategies.
  • Identify procurement saving opportunities and initiate individual projects & initiatives at all operational levels.

Process Management & Improvement:

  • Direct business lines towards improved operational discipline in procurement processes (POATF, Buyways, eCatalogs, Pcard Policy and other).

Reporting & Performance:

  • Ensure the implementation and tracking of savings, performance indicators and achieved results.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to local, regional and/or global governing bodies (councils) as required.

Relationship with Others:

  • Regular interaction with operational procurement
  • Operational Management (e.g. requestors & plant managers)
  • Category management team.
  • Frequent interaction with external vendors.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience_**- Associates/Technical Degree is required, Bachelor's/Undergraduate degree is a plus

  • Three to five years in procurement role (sourcing, operations) with exposure to supply chain management, strategic sourcing and optimal procurement processes and standards, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated performance in working within crossfunctional teams, with requisite drive and energy.
  • Experience in aggregates, RMX or heavy industrial setting is an asset.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of SAP and Microsoft office.
  • Effective time management, planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and drive tasks to completion in a fixed timeframe and in a pressured environment.
  • Ability to work with crossfunctional teams and build relationships across multiple functions.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguities, conflicts and adversarial relationships.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify problems quickly, make sound judgments, establish and implement solutions.
