The Senior Developer is expected to be a mentor, a leader, and an advocate for their team, driving technical and operational excellence across the organization.

About the Job

As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for guiding your team through the execution of projects, enhancing their skills, and establishing a robust team culture. Your technical proficiency and strong communication skills will enable you to represent your team's technical interests effectively and ensure the seamless integration of engineering and business functions. Your role is pivotal in solving day-to-day challenges, facilitating teamwork, and guaranteeing the successful completion of tasks through effective delegation.

Your Impact

As a Senior Developer you'll collaborate closely with your team, Staff Developers, Product Managers, and Engineering Managers to:

  • Serve as the go-to technical resource, ensuring that engineering perspectives are voiced and technical excellence is pursued.
  • Identify proactive and long-term projects to uphold service quality, and advocate for work or process changes that increase team velocity and health.
  • Document long-term visions for projects and services, and distill high-level plans into clear backlog artifacts.
  • Ensure the team has the confidence and capability to respond to emergencies with clarity.
  • Cooperatively work with the Engineering Manager to onboard, mentor, and sponsor developers for meaningful career Lead in planning and execution, ensuring work is executable with clear, feasible requirements, and participate in sprint planning as the engineering voice.
  • Build and contribute to Vendasta's engineering culture within the team and the wider organization through mentoring, tech demos, and community involvement.

  • BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Pub/Sub, Google Data Studio, Cloud IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Datastore, Google Maps Platform, Stackdriver, etc... We have been invited to join the Early Access Program on quite a few GCP technologies.

What You Bring to the Table

The ideal candidate for the Senior Developer position at Vendasta will possess a combination of leadership qualities, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit. Required skills and experience include:

  • A strong technical background with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading a technical team and providing direction on complex software projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor team members.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development practices and technologies relevant to Vendasta's tech stack.
  • Proven track record of identifying and solving technical challenges proactively and creatively.
