As an Environmental Compliance Advisor with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of environmental professionals. This position is based in our Calgary office.

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Resources and Compliance , the Environmental Advisor - Compliance is responsible for coordination of environmental tasks and deliverables related to Canadian Energy Regulator (CER) and BC Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO) Conditions as well as stakeholder and Provincial permit commitments for the Trans Mountain Environment team. The role includes liaising with internal Trans Mountain team members, third-party consultants, stakeholders and regulators in order to complete deliverables in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Environmental Advisor - Compliance will provide assistance to the Environment team in completing key regulatory deliverables, such as finalizing the CER conditions, BC EAO conditions, stakeholder and Provincial permit commitments and assisting in the ongoing implementation of the plans by Trans Mountain.
  • The overall deliverable of this position is the completion of Federal and Provincial regulatory reports and record of completion for tracked commitments.
  • Work closely with Environment, Regulatory, Lands and Compliance teams to support consistency and alignment in addressing environmental issues across the company.
  • Confirm that consultant monitoring and reporting related to conditions and commitments detail the purpose of involvement, appropriate methods and ensure activities are completed to address the issue as they pertain to regulatory requirements and commitments.
  • Triage and respond to Information Requests from external groups and work with the Environment teams to ensure commitment execution.
  • Triage commitments and work with the Compliance and Environment teams to ensure commitment execution. Support the collection of proof of completion in support of commitment fulfillment.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • B.Sc in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Master's level education would be an asset.
  • 6+ years of experience in Environmental Planning, preferably in Oil & Gas.
  • Project Management Professional or Environmental Professional credentials considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Experience interacting with federal and provincial (Alberta/BC) pipeline regulators, stakeholders, First Nations, and environmental consultants.
  • Successful track record in project related tasks including oversight of contractors, productive interaction with project team members including various internal and external stakeholders, interaction with legal representation, and communication of progress, strategy, goals and fiscal project management.
  • Competency in report preparation to regulatory agencies describing work performed and results.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for various office duties.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and tools to manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
