Role Summary


The Labour Market Resource Specialist works collaboratively with the WorkBC Centre team to oversee a positive and meaningful client service experience in the Resource Centre and Self-Service services; including the participation in virtual and outreach services as appropriate.

Additionally, as the 'in-house labour market expert', the Resource Centre Coordinator supports the Service Delivery Team and Clients by providing up to date comprehensive labour market information in support of the successful objectives and outcomes as defined by the WorkBC Employment Services Program.


Key Responsibilities

Resource Centre Management
Responsible for managing all aspects of the Resource Centre, ensuring a consistently high level of Client interaction and supportive coaching, by:

  • Referring clients to appropriate services (internal and external to MCES), based on a high level of WorkBC Employment Program services knowledge and understanding

Resource Centre Coordinator
Responsible for consistently promoting and marketing clients in a meaningful way to the Employer community, providing a continual liaison and support between Clients and Employers in order to promote sustainable employment opportunities and outcomes, by:

  • Working with Clients to ensure they understand, formally agree in writing, and consistently adhere to the privacy, confidentiality and behavioural guidelines as set out by Terms of Service Policy; appropriately intervening and addressing any conflict that may arise, and subsequently completing the required follow-up communications and documentation
  • Providing a comprehensive Orientation for Clients to the Resource Centre (either as a group or oneonone) including a description of Resource Centre services and supports and all other appropriate WorkBC Employment Program services
  • Providing guidance and appropriate support (i.e., resumes, job search, mock interviews, etc.) and administration of job start and search supports, as required by participants to secure and sustain employment as per WorkBC Employment Services Program and MCES policy
  • Providing appropriate and meaningful coaching and support of Clients as it relates to all aspects of the Resource Centre and Self-Service services, including but not necessarily limited to: access to job search tools and information, local resources, agencies and supports, training opportunities, technical (computer) resources, and accessibility aids
  • Identifying and encouraging all Clients, as appropriate based on WorkBC Employment Services Program eligibility requirements, to register for appropriate case management services, including Self-Service Clients
  • Actively encouraging and working with Clients to address issues that may be negatively impacting their ability to secure and/or sustain employment and communicate those issues to the appropriate member(s) of the Job Search and/or Job Retention Services team
  • Actively participating in employment followup contacts with former Clients in support of accurately recording outcomes and assisting clients with finding additional services and information as needed to meet the identified Sustainability objectives of the WorkBC Employment Services Program
  • Consistent and appealing maintenance of the Resource Centre physical space; including following all MCES safety and security
  • Ensuring all required information and documentation is entered in a timely and accurate manner in both ClientConnect and ICM, covering all Client interactions
  • Ongoing collaboration and sharing of Client interactions with WorkBC Centre team members, to ensure ongoing contact, support and success of Clients in relation to sustainable employment objectives
  • Managing, maintaining and updating the Resource Centre Library including ordering new materials (e.g., resource material, books, etc.)
  • Creating, printing and replenishing job search tip sheets, samples and worksheets; sourcing new tools and resources across all media types to further enhance the Resource Centre library
  • Managing, maintaining and updating ClientConnect online resources

Virtual and Outreach Services
Responsible to actively participate in virtual and outreach service delivery as required in support of effective Client Resource Centre and Self-Service services, through:

  • Supporting the use of the WorkBC virtual and outreach services when and as appropriate including the effective and meaningful use of all online resources, including, but not necessarily limited to: On-line Job Boards and CareerConnect
  • Administration of online Client satisfaction surveys
  • Effectively and consistently utilizing various methods of Social Media to inform clients of job opportunities, community events, job fairs and the like
