Biostatistician/data Scientist

This position will be largely focussed on refinement and analyses of a data resource created by linkage of ANZDATA Registry data with automated data from peritoneal dialysis treatments ("Sharesource").

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

• Consultation and development of an analytic approach to the data resources
• Refinement of the current data set and processes
• Where relevant, use of machine learning algorithms to support analyses of this and other elements of ANZDATA's dataset.
• Demonstration of expertise in statistical advice, analysis and reporting for ANZDATA reporting and research studies.
• Developing new methods and approaches for data visualisation and analysis for the ANZDATA projects
• Effective and efficient management of ANZDATA research projects analytical needs.
• Active contribution to reports and manuscripts for publication and conference presentation.

About You

• Degree qualification in a relevant field with extensive relevant experience
• MS or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field highly desirable
• Excellent proficiency in one or more statistical languages such as SAS, R, or Stata.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java, C++ or Python.
• High level of experience in machine learning (i.e., Linear Discriminant Analysis, Classification and Regression Trees, K-Nearest Neighbours, Support Vector Machines, and Random Forest) and using machine learning algorithms to conduct model selection.
• 3 years' experience working with (preferably) large datasets independently. Preferable experience working with health service data.
• Statistical experience working with longitudinal observational data including multivariable modelling, missing data, confounding/interaction issues, and survival analysis.
• Experience with complex statistical multivariable modelling, survival analysis, and missing data are highly desirable but intermediate understanding will be considered.

Special Requirements

• Some out of hours work may be required.
