The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial and analytical support on a variety of ongoing operational activities, ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives.

In this role, the Financial Analyst will also perform monthly accounting functions and provide financial analysis, with an emphasis placed on financial reporting and analysis and enhancing internal controls.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for the forecasting, budgeting, annual audit and year-end close process.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to enhance accounting expertise and experience and to broaden the knowledge of the operations, customer support and other components of the financial cycle.

The Financial Analyst will actively support the future ERP's implementation under the direction of the VP of Finance.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:_

  • Ensure the integrity of financial information in the general ledger and reconcile information in all management and operational reporting to financial results.
  • Provide accounting support necessary to close the financial accounts on a monthly basis, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, reviewing of invoices and the determination of accruals.
  • Provide variance explanations across key accounts (revenue and cost) by reviewing historical trends, assumptions and anticipated projections for month end cycles
  • Develop, implement and sustain standards and data integrity controls and processes which promote consistent and reliable corporate financial reporting and account reconciliation.
  • Enhance our current information offering by introducing new metrics, and devising the processes to support them.
  • Collaborating with crossfunctional teams, identify, analyze, and continuously improve reporting processes and tools to provide stakeholders with more user friendly and insightful information.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Leadership Team and work collaboratively with Managers, Operations as required.
  • Other duties may include working with Stats Canada and other external entities to meet fiduciary reporting obligations.
  • Display vigilance and initiative for recognizing and acting on opportunities for process improvement and simplification.

    QUALIFICATIONS:_
  • Bachelor's or College Degree in an appropriate field of study (Finance or Accounting) preferred
  • Accounting designation (CPA or CA/CMA/CGA) preferred
  • 5 + years of relevant experience in an Accounting/Finance role
  • 2 to 5 years of Manufacturing, Distribution, Supply Chain, Logistics experience an asset
  • Strong knowledge/experience with ERP systems
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analytical skills, and reasoning to identify key risk factors and drivers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fastpaced, and dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with Inventory is a great asset
  • Ability to form relationships and work through and influence business stakeholders
  • Team player with strong people skills and proven ability to build relationships at various levels of the organization
  • Selfstarter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
