Head Coach, SmartLife Technology Programs Reporting to the President, CNIB SmartLife and Open Innovation, The Head Coach, SmartLife Technology Programs, will play a key role in changing the lives of Canadians who are blind, partially sighted, or deafblind, through Leadership and Oversight of a core team dedicated to the development and implementation of virtual digital curriculum, programming and 1:1 training.


Your impact at CNIB:

  • Lead and oversee the execution of tactics and deliverables for the SmartLife Connecting with Technology DLEP 2.0 initiative, meeting and exceeding regular quarterly target.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and supervise DLEP associated project management, content development, and training personnel roles prescribed for the CWT DLEP program.
  • In collaboration with the centralized service quality team, the program service delivery team, and the DLEP Project Manager, lead and ensure appropriate entry and capture of data, and represent that data as required for the CNIB SmartLife President, and in all quarterly reporting cycles for the CWT DLEP program.
  • Ensure a consistently high standard of operational procedure, program development and delivery, product knowledge, and customer service.
  • Ensure consistent team tracking and reporting to support quantitative and qualitative deliverables and reporting criteria.
  • In collaboration with the SmartLife Management Team develop and execute upon marketing strategies that engage and inform clients, and attract new participants and volunteers.
  • Contribute to the development of, and oversee/ensure execution of, the SmartLife Operations Workplan.
  • Provide expertise in the development, and implementation of, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), training and education materials, etc. that support all CNIB SmartLife programs and initiatives from coast to coast.
  • Ensure CNIB's Contact Centre and other points of client contact are knowledgeable on all SmartLife associated programs, technology products, and customer service.
  • Drive community engagement through regional learning workshops conducted by SmartLife Coaches, Technology Leads, Apprentices, Come to Work talent pool participants and volunteers.

  • A proven record of strong demonstrated leadership and Management skills and delivery of customerfocused initiatives in a complex organizational structure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding of, and demonstrated track record of curriculum development, program content creation, delivery, participant training, and measurement.
  • Portrays the appropriate professional image.
  • Extensive knowledge in accessible and adaptive technologies
  • Extensive experience in training people with vision loss on utilizing accessible and assistive technologies.
  • Excellent relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines.
  • Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problemsolving skills
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons living with vision loss.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with accessible and assistive technologies, program development and delivery, and excellent customer service provision.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity of staff and/or volunteer teams.
  • Experience in ensuring appropriate processes for data gathering and compilation for required quantitative and qualitative complex reports.
  • Personal and/or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss and associated assistive technologies.
  • Significant people Leadership and Management, including Volunteer engagement and experience.
  • At minimum, a working knowledge of Salesforce CRM database.
  • Lived personal experience with blindness or visionloss an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment:

  • This position will have a primary base at the CNIB National office in Toronto, inclusive of remote work opportunity.
