The Lead for Assembly Operations will work at our 3PL distribution center and act as the intermediary between ASSA ABLOY and our 3PL. Their main responsibilities include coordinating special custom orders at the center and providing updates to the Distribution Supervisor on workload progress and performance. They will exemplify ASSA ABLOY values to achieve service excellence, meet organizational objectives, and support fiscal responsibility.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Produce keys for locks based on specifications in special customer orders (20%):
    • Cut keys according to customer specifications
    • Operate, maintain, and ensure proper care of key cutting equipment
  2. Process, assemble, and repack items as per customer order specifications (20%):
    • Reconfigure lock mechanisms according to technical specifications
    • Re-pack or kit spectrum products as per special orders
  3. Assemble Products on Retail Display fixtures (POD's) as per sales request (15%):
  4. Coordinate co-packing (15%):
    • Schedule and coordinate work flow with onsite co-packer to manage flow of materials
    • Communicate with operations, marketing, and sales leaders to ensure requirements are met
    • Maintain inventory of materials and parts
  5. Rework and inspect products to meet business/quality compliance requirements (10%):
    • Be the contact on site to address any quality issues and coordinate rework of products
    • Conduct visual inspections, measurements, and reworks as needed
    • Document inspection results and summarize rework and waste
  6. Supervise temporary labor for special custom orders (10%):
    • Coordinate temporary labor through Human Resources
    • Lead temporary employees in tasks execution
    • Assist in evaluating and resolving temporary employee performance problems
    • Motivate and coach temporary employees
  7. Manage orders, movement, and reconciliation of inventories for special custom orders (10%)
  8. Ensure workplace safety and practices:
    • Achieve compliance with Safety regulations
    • Participate in workplace inspections
  9. Other duties as assigned
Dimensions:This role can supervise up to 8 temporary employees on an ad hoc basis.Education and Experience:
  • College diploma in a technical field
  • 3-5 years' experience in light hand mechanical assembly or repair
  • 3 years' experience as a Team Lead in manufacturing or distribution
Required Qualifications:
  • Hand dexterity for key cutting and lock handling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, WMS, and ERP systems
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Capability to lift/move up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years' supervisory experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and out-of-the box thinking
  • Ability to work with master key systems
Work Environment:
  • Location: Mississauga, ON
  • Five (5) days per week in the Distribution Centre
