The Head Home Centre Clerk reports to the Lumber/Hardware Manager and some of the responsibilities are:

  • Assist the Lumber/Hardware Manager with ordering and maintaining inventories following the Pincher Creek Co-op policies.
  • Provide information, assistance and services to customers and promote the sale of merchandise that meet the customer's needs and requirements.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the store as needed.
  • Responsible for receiving, examining, and warehousing Farm & Home merchandise.
  • Ensure that the sales floor area is stocked correctly per the policies.
  • Ensure that traffic areas are always kept clean and orderly.
  • Ensure housekeeping duties are followed, including cleaning bins, shelves, displays and warehouse areas, sweeping floors as required, removing empty containers, etc.
  • Assist the manager in preparing and maintaining records as required, which may include records of markdowns, margin control records, etc.
  • Record individual sales through the point of sales system and close off cash as required.
  • Assist in taking inventory.
  • Assist the manager in pricing and margin control programs.
  • Settle customer complaints and adjustments as per company policy.
  • Build shelves displays, assemble the product, display units, etc., as required.
  • Place orders for customers for special order items as per company policy.
  • Must take any training required to perform the duties assigned, as determined by the manager.
  • Comply with all Pincher Creek Coop operational, safety and employee policies and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in retail and cashier experience along with building supply knowledge
  • Experience in Hardware an asset, previous paint experience, literacy, numeracy, and customer service skills are required
  • Great organizational skills and time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiples demands at once while still providing a sense of urgency
  • Willing to learn and advance in the Coop
  • Excel in building positive relationships with Customers and Coworkers
  • Clean, Neat Appearance and have positive attitude
  • Able to work all shifts
