Sr. Place and Route Principal Application Engineer

We are excited to welcome highly talented hardware designers and application engineers to join our Cadence North America Field Applications Team. As an expert Digital Implementation and Signoff Field Applications Engineering (AE), you will collaborate closely with our cutting-edge customers, assisting them in utilizing Cadence's market-leading technologies in Synthesis, P&R, and Signoff to meet and exceed their PPA goals, achieve quicker design closure, and bring their design concepts to life. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in generating business opportunities. You will also liaise with the Cadence R&D team to shape customer requirements and influence the development of future Cadence products and technologies. Customers are central to everything we do at Cadence. Dedicated engineers like you enable us to translate this passion into tangible outcomes. By engaging directly with Cadence R&D and driving customer interactions, you will expand your expertise in nanometer design, enhance your proficiency in digital design implementation, and refine your communication, customer, and sales competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to Cadence customers in Backend Digital Design Implementation and Signoff, encompassing Place and Route, Design Closure, and timing/power signoff
  • Guide customers on optimal utilization of Cadence technologies to achieve design objectives and meet project timelines
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demos
  • Lead technical evaluations/benchmarks to successful outcomes
  • Collaborate with R&D to enhance tools and methodologies to exceed customer expectations
  • Promote adoption and proliferation of Cadence tools and technologies
  • Modify and enhance workflows as necessary using Tcl and/or other programming skills to align with objectives and enhance results/flows
  • Capture best practices and insights from ongoing evaluations/benchmarks to enhance efficiency and success rates in future engagements

Job Requirements:

  • BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of design/EDA experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading, managing, and steering major customer projects to successful outcomes
  • Solid knowledge of Digital Design Fundamentals, Semiconductor fundamentals, and Static Timing Analysis
  • Prior exposure to IC digital implementation flows and backend EDA tools, including Place and Route, IR Drop, backend design timing, and power closure
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Tcl/Perl/Python is essential
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and problemsolving skills
  • Innate drive for continuous learning and expanding professional skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and customer communication skills

Preferred:

  • MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Prior experience with IC digital implementation flows and front-end EDA tools such as Synthesis, DFT, and Logical Equivalence Checking
  • Familiarity with Cadence tools like Genus, Innovus, Conformal, Tempus, Modus, and/or Voltus is highly desirable
  • Experience with advanced nodes 5nm and below

The annual salary range for California is $138,600 to $257,400. Incentive compensation, bonuses, equity, and benefits are attainable. Sales roles offer competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) structures. Salaries are indicative and may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, and work location.
