The Renewable Resources Department is seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented temporary, part-time Faculty (0.47 FTE ) to teach Wetland and Estuary Restoration and supervise students completing applied research projects in the Bachelor of Science in Ecological Restoration program in the Fall 2024 term.

The Ecological Restoration program provides graduates with a strong foundation in the methods available to restore a broad range of ecosystems that have been impacted by human influences in British Columbia, across Canada and in other parts of the world.

Ecological Restoration graduates will not only bring skills and expertise to current employers but will also be leaders and innovators in this rapidly developing industry.

This temporary position will teach RENR 8106 (Wetland and Estuary Restoration) to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Ecological Restoration.

The successful candidate will also supervise students completing applied research projects in RENR 8300 with 3-hour student contact per week.

General responsibilities will include providing support for course- and program-level applied learning including training students in field applications (including equipment use), participating in the RENR safety days, organizing and participating in field-trip logistics, and participating in course and curriculum development.

Recent field and/or operational experience in the course area listed above.

Proficiency in the latest technology used by natural resource managers, including geographic information technology, remote sensing, and associated software.

Demonstrated ability to effectively teach at the post-secondary level in classroom, field and online settings.

Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team, being flexible and adaptable to meet the needs and challenges of a dynamic program.

PhD in biology, ecology, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of recent field and/or operational experience in the course areas listed above.
