Stz'uminus First Nation (SFN) is a progressive community with a workforce of approximately 60 people located in Ladysmith, British Columbia.

Our Nation has 1,300 members, with about half living on our reserves. We are a rapidly growing Nation, offering our members a range of opportunities, programs, and services.

HOURS OF WORK & CLASSIFICATION
This is a permanent position.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grantmaking organizations.
  • Persuasively communicating the organization's mission and programs to potential funders.
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  • Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.
  • Actively supporting all departments (housing, recreation, education, fisheries, etc.).
  • Maintaining a calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
  • Conducting prospect research.
  • Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving promptly, meeting deadlines, and managing supplemental material required for proposals.
  • Providing writing support for major donor and individual contribution letters and acknowledgments.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or marketing/PR experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Governance Issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in grant/proposal writing.

  • Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills.
  • Selfmotivated, detailoriented, and highly organized.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Communicate in a compelling and concise form.
  • Solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants.
  • Proposal writing courses or workshops are an asset.
