Its primary focus is to provide flexible and innovative ideas, technical expertise and customized solutions to leading insurance and reinsurance companies both in Canada and USA.

Our team consists of actuaries, underwriters, claims and treaty professionals as well as reinsurance administrative specialists. RMA is a member company of Starwind Specialty, a division of Truist Insurance Holdings.

RMA offers worksite flexibility and teammates may elect to work hybrid or permanently from home.

Teammates will be required to attend the Company offices for regular collaboration days and/or other department or Company meetings as required.

Overview
The Data Analyst reports to the Actuarial Manager in the Life Reinsurance Division. The incumbent will have a balanced mandate of both modelling and technical support accountabilities.

Responsibilities to include assisting in the modelling of mortality projections, preparing data files for quarter end process, supporting the enhancement of Moody's AXIS models and helping to build and test an experience studies system.


Principal Accountabilities
Data Analysis

  • Analysis and summarization of clientprovided data.
  • Aid with experience analysis for new business quotes.
  • Data file preparation for quarterend financial reporting.
Database Consolidation and Evaluation

  • Assist with the development of pricing models and tools.
  • Assist with the development of SQL Server and MS Access databases.
  • Consolidation, evaluation and reconciliation of MS Excel spreadsheets, text files and databases.
Data Quality Review

  • Use of R or Python software required along with MS Excel.
  • Reconciliation and evaluation of data within SQL server or MS Access.
  • Coordinate with external systems to integrate outputs/inputs of AXIS with databases.

Ad Hoc Requests:

  • Assist with pricing model setup, automation of tasks within Excel and other statistical/data manipulations tasks not mentioned.
  • Assist with Longevity pricing as required.
  • May be tasked with assist Life Reinsurance modelling tasks in Moody's AXIS.

Position Requirements
Education

  • Bachelor's degree from data science, statistical, mathematical, actuarial or similar programs or Actuarial exams along with other bachelor's degree. College diploma with strong data analysis and database experience will be considered.
Knowledge

  • Understanding of Linear Regression.
  • Highlevel knowledge of insurance, reinsurance or life contingencies strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Very strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • A selfstarter with strong collaboration skills.
  • Ability to deal with other technical professionals (mathematical/actuarial).
  • Highly proficient in MS-Office tools, especially MS-Excel and MS-Access.
  • Experience with mortality forecasting algorithms preferred.
  • Experience with either R, Python or other programming languages. Prefer working knowledge of data manipulation inside programming.
  • Strong SQL and Database knowledge required, such as SQL Server, MS Access or
  • Experience with MS Power BI, Tableau or similar is an asset.
Experience

  • Previous work experience, including coop or summer work term(s) preferred.
