About Us
At Good Shepherd, we have a strong belief in offering hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our range of services includes emergency food assistance, transitional housing, and educational initiatives for homeless and street-involved youth, hospice palliative care, mental health programs, and supportive housing programs. We are dedicated to incorporating Harm Reduction principles into our services to prioritize the rights, dignity, and choices of individuals using substances, thereby reducing barriers to access and providing better support to marginalized community members.

How You Will Make a Difference
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will collaborate with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team following the Housing First approach and principles of harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
The ideal candidate will deliver services to individuals and families involved with the Reaching Home program and others affected by mental health issues, substance use, and housing instability/homelessness. Services will be offered in various settings, including offices, homes, and the community, aimed at helping clients achieve housing stability, enhance quality of life, and improve overall health and well-being. The role involves providing mental health interventions such as counseling, referrals, and advocacy, as well as adhering to Good Shepherd's Health and Safety protocols to ensure client and staff safety.
Your Qualifications
- Minimum undergraduate degree in a related health or human services field (e.g., social work, nursing)
- Experience in providing counseling, case management, and crisis intervention related to mental health challenges, poverty, homelessness, substance use, etc.
- Strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills with excellent problem-solving and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of community resources, social determinants of health, and evidence-based practices in mental health
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and P.H.I.P.A.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to speak French and/or another language besides English is a plus
- Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practices and alignment with Good Shepherd's mission and values
- Valid G Class License
- Understanding of workplace health and safety practices and legislative responsibilities
