Job Summary:

Your role:

  • Oversee volunteers including their orientation, training, assigning work tasks, mentoring, and coaching to ensure quality of services and products in a team environment.
  • Develop and prepare menu and catering items which may include breakfast, lunch, light snacks, and special event dinners for 60 seat public restaurant.
  • Responsible for costing and developing appropriate pricing.
  • Communicate with clients to prepare quotes for individual catering and special events requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service and address food related questions or concerns.
  • Ensure food loss is kept at a minimum.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for all duties related to the restaurant.
  • Maintain proper inventory control, order all supplies, receive and check stocks, make appropriate corrections, and work with staff to ensure proper payment processes are followed.
  • Responsible for food safety i.e. ensure freezers/fridges and storage shelves are properly maintained.
  • Organize deliveries of to go meals.
  • Ensure staff and volunteers are trained and adhere to public health regulations.
  • Ensure restaurant and catering business is operated within compliance of all federal and provincial regulations/legislation, public health, City bylaws, and any other applicable regulations.
  • Accompany Public Health Inspectors on inspections of restaurant and ensure compliance with mandates/recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all equipment is turned off at the end of day and kitchen is left in a safe condition.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash and credit, using the CLASS point of sale computerized system.
  • Maintain and operate all equipment, including a dishwasher, meat slicer, commercial mixers, ovens, griddle and steam table.
  • Monitor budget, keep Manager informed of any concerns, and make recommendations regarding the operations of the entire restaurant.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A valid Food Handlers Certification
  • Leadership skills with the ability to oversee, train and motivate volunteers.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve customer inquiries/complaints in an effective manner in person and over the phone.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to communicate with public and all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHIMIS, safe food handling and storage, liquor license for special events and the Canada Food Guide.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • A Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificate an asset.
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position (e.g. standing, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 50 lbs).
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or seniors is an asset

Rate:

$31.92-$39.20 per hour
