About The Role

HUB Proteus, a growing Toronto based institutional investment consulting firm, is seeking a Software Analyst to join their dynamic team. This established firm is a premier provider of pension governance and investment consulting to Canadian Pension and Investment Funds. Proteus was ranked in the Top Quartile for overall quality of investment consulting services in the 2022 Greenwich Associates Survey. This role reports to the Director, Technology.

What You'll Do

Develop and maintain robust software solutions for investment analysis and portfolio management, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability to meet the needs of consultants and clients. Collaborate with investment consultants and investment analysts to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications and innovative software features. Design and implement algorithms for financial modeling, risk assessment, and investment strategy optimization. Perform thorough testing and debugging to ensure the accuracy and reliability of software applications, adhering to industry standards and compliance regulations. Integrate third-party financial data sources and APIs to enhance the functionality and scope of investment analysis tools. Learn how our reporting system operate through some hands-on creation of client reports. Provide technical support and training to end-users, ensuring seamless adoption and effective utilization of developed software solutions. Continuously monitor and improve system performance, implementing updates and upgrades to maintain software efficiency and relevance in a dynamic financial environment. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the software remains cutting-edge.

Qualifications and expertise that pave the way for Success

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Finance, or a related field. 0-3 years of software development experience. Proven experience with software development, preferably in the financial services or investment management industry. Strong proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python for backend development and JavaScript for frontend development. Proficiency in front-end web development using modern frameworks, specifically , to create dynamic and responsive user interfaces. Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools, particularly Kubernetes, for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications in a microservices architecture. Familiarity with database technologies and SQL for data management and retrieval. Understanding of investment concepts, portfolio management, and financial markets. Ability to work with APIs and integrate third-party data sources. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus. Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to develop predictive models and enhance investment decision-making processes is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Interest or certification in financial analysis or investment management (e.g., CFA, CFP, CSC, CIM, CIPM) is an added advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook
