We are looking for radiographers interested in training in mammography to join our friendly breast screening and assessment team in North East England.

We are seeking radiographers who approach patient care with compassion, work well in teams, and are dedicated to providing holistic care.

Main Duties of the Job

The need for a female to fill this role is a Genuine Occupational Qualification exempt under the Equality Act.

We are looking for enthusiastic radiographers keen on mammography training to join our Breast Imaging Team at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust.

Applicants must have a degree in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiography, be HCPC registered, and have knowledge of NHS policies.

A valid driving license and access to a car are essential due to the rural area served by the Newcastle Breast Screening Service.

Job Description

  • Work in the Breast Screening and Assessment Centre at the RVI.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent Radiographer to deliver screening and assessment services.
  • Flexible working arrangements can be discussed to suit both the service and the individual.
  • All successful candidates needing a DBS for the post will have the cost deducted from their first month's pay.

Person Specification - Band 5

Essential

  • BSc Radiography or equivalent qualification.
  • Complete a PgCert in Mammographic studies while in the role.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, data protection, health & safety, fire procedures, moving & handling, and resuscitation training.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Commitment to student training and out-of-hours services.
  • Hold a driving license and own a car.

Desirable

  • Experience in technical aspects beyond basic radiography training.
  • Familiarity with a variety of equipment and CT special techniques.
  • Knowledge of audit and quality assurance in radiology departments.
  • Experience with radiology information systems and health-related studies.
  • Computer literacy, including PC and word processing skills.
  • Membership of the College of Radiographers.
  • Adaptability to the evolving NHS landscape.
