The General Foreperson is responsible for developing and monitoring project execution plans that take place within the field operations, including overhead lines, substations, underground, and temporary services in the Province of Ontario.

Is also responsible to work in a collaborative manner with others and will provide written and verbal reports as required.

The General Foreperson will strategically set and monitor operational targets with the utmost consideration for safety, high quality and service excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Provide daytoday leadership to field, forepersons and operations crews and effectively communicate the team's operational targets ensuring safety is a top priority
  • Serve as a mentor to all forepersons and assist in resolving problems
  • Assist in strategically setting, assigning and monitoring operational targets, goals and objectives for the division
  • Escalate problems or issues of a strategic or operational nature and evaluate the risks or opportunities associated with potential solutions to ensure the most appropriate course of action is taken
  • Communicate regularly with direct reports to ensure that work is completed in accordance with set priorities and strategic goals and objectives
  • Provide accurate technical advice throughout job/ project delivery, and review phases of projects.
  • Proactively procure the appropriate tools and equipment required for daytoday activities or specific jobs.
  • Works to retain current customers and make sure customers are satisfied
  • Responds to general inquiries and requests for information from staff and directs inquiries to the appropriate division or team member
  • Ensure that all injuries, incidents and near misses are reported regardless of severity
  • Be proficient in all approved work methods and procedures
  • Work with Fleet and Tool divisions to ensure equipment and tools are tested at regular intervals

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience as a Powerline Technician
  • Minimum five (5) years managing a crew or similar managerial experience
  • PLT Journeyman Certificate and an Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certification is required
  • Postsecondary education in Business Management and Leadership is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, administrative and organizational skills
  • In depth knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and requirements with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills with ability to use discretion and independent judgment when dealing with issues and problems
  • Strong time management skills with ability to effectively balance field and office workloads
